Left-Wing Colors
This one is going to either encourage cheering, or piss people off to no end. Either way, I don't care. Hope you enjoy it, but if not then I'm not changing my views for you.
I wrote this up awhile back, and just found it again. I thought it would make a good post. Honestly I originally thought of using it to start a chain-mail, but I think it'll do just fine here. If you don't like it, feel free not to read it. I won't make you, but you can't stop me from posting it either.
[ORIGINAL RANT]
First off, if you're pro-Bush then please pass this on to any friends you have or people you know who support Kerry and other democrats. If you are a supporter of Kerry, then please read this whole rant. I know it is lengthy, but it has to be to convey the hypocrisy of Kerry and his fellow democratic politicians. There is much more to be shown of their hypocritical nature, but I didn't want to make this too long. The way Kerry flip-flops around the issues and exploits Vietnam, can he really be trusted? The way he lies to us all and contradicts himself constantly, can he really be much of a savior to our country?
Let me explain. Kerry fought in Vietnam, this is true. He may or may not have saved someone under enemy fire, this is up to debate...he and his friends say there was fire, while someone else who was at the scene on a different boat says there wasn't. Makes you wonder, doesn't it? Of course not, not if you believe Kerry. But why should you believe him? I could go on endlessly on how he lies, misleads, and flip-flops, but you'd never believe me if it were just my words. So let's let Kerry's words do the leading from here.
"What saddens me most is that Democrats, above all those who shared the agonies of that generation, should now be re-fighting the many conflicts of Vietnam in order to win the current political conflict of a Presidential primary. . . . We do not need to divide America over who served and how . . ."
John Kerry, on the Senate floor on Feb. 27, 1992, lamented that Vietnam had been "inserted into the campaign."
Tell me, then, why he's been using it so vigorously in his own campaign? Can anyone spell 'hypocrite' for me? Let's move on.
During the same speech as the last quote... “Mr. President,” Kerry said, “you and I know that if support or opposition to the war were to become a litmus test for leadership, America would never have leaders or recover from the divisions created by that war.”
Again, I need someone who can spell 'hypocrite' for me. :) Just wait though, I'm gonna need another speller here in just a minute. Tell me if you remember this little bit of Kerry's history.
John Kerry of Waltham said, before he threw his medals over the fence, "I'm not doing this for any violent reasons, but...to try to make this country wake up once and for all!" April 24, 1971.
Sweet guy, hmm? Maybe, IF those were his own medals. The thing is, Kerry never threw away his own medals. He threw away someone elses! But don't take my word for it, just ask Kerry to show them to you. He has them all set up on display. Kerry, after showing a reporter his medals and ribbons on display in his Back Bay apartment, said he had disagreed with other protest leaders on throwing away medals. This was October 15, 1984, thirteen years after allegedly throwing his medals away! Clearly he never got rid of his own. That or he did, and simply stole someone else's. In either case many people are supporting a thief and war criminal!
Wait, war criminal? Where's that come from? Glad you asked!
"I committed the same kinds of atrocities as thousands of others in that I shot in free fire zones, used harassment and interdiction fire, joined in search and destroy missions, and burned villages. All of these acts were established policies from the top down, and the men who ordered this are war criminals." John Kerry, April of 1971.
Hey, if you do the crime, you're as guilty as anyone else involved. You can't shake that kind of responsibility away. If you can do that, what do you think he'd do with our country? Maybe take us into another war? Atleast, this little quote from two years ago suggests it.
"If Saddam Hussein is unwilling to bend to the international community's already existing order, then he will have invited enforcement, even if that enforcement is mostly at the hands of the United States, a right we retain even if the Security Council fails to act." John Kerry, September 6, 2002
That's right...he's stating that if the UN doesn't agree, then we have the right to act alone! The very thing him and many of his supporters slam on Bush! This man is riding his campaign on a horse named hypocrisy!
"The threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real, but as I said, it is not new. It has been with us since the end of that war, and particularly in the last 4 years we know after Operation Desert Fox failed to force him to reaccept them, that he has continued to build those weapons. He has had a free hand for 4 years to reconstitute these weapons, allowing the world, during the interval, to lose the focus we had on weapons of mass destruction and the issue of proliferation." John Kerry, from a Senate Floor Speech on October 9, 2002.
So, the threat isn't new? Don't you realize the same intelligence you speak of here is the same intelligence that lead Bush into his decision to go to war? And he says Bush misleads people...sounds to me like Kerry is doing all the misleading here.
"The Iraqi regime's record over the decade leaves little doubt that Saddam Hussein wants to retain his arsenal of weapons of mass destruction and to expand it to include nuclear weapons. We cannot allow him to prevail in that quest." - Same Senate Floor Speech.
I see...so do you believe he has these weapons, or not? MAKE UP YOUR MIND!
“There are a set of principles here that are very large, larger in some measure than I think has been adequately conveyed, both internationally and certainly to the American people. Saddam Hussein has already used these weapons and has made it clear that he has the intent to continue to try, by virtue of his duplicity and secrecy, to continue to do so. That is a threat to the stability of the Middle East. It is a threat with respect to the potential of terrorist activities on a global basis. It is a threat even to regions near but not exactly in the Middle East.” John Kerry, in a Press Conference, February 23, 1998
Who do you believe? This Kerry, or the one now running for President? Personally, I've given up trusting anything this hypocrite says. He flip-flops like crazy, worse than a trained acrobat at a circus. If you haven't noticed that yet, you truly are blind. And I say that from an unbiased, objective standpoint. But that's fine...still support him and wish to vote for him? Then read on!
“I don’t think anyone in the Congress is going to not give our troops ammunition, not give our troops the ability to be able to defend themselves. We’re not going to cut and run and not do the job.” John Kerry, September 14, 2003
Amazingly said just mere days AFTER he said THIS!
"We cannot authorize or appropriate $87 billion without pulling back some of the unfair Bush tax cut for the wealthiest Americans and investing in the United States of America. If we can open firehouses in Baghdad, we can keep them open in the United States of America."
"I will do what we need to do to protect troops. But I am not going to vote for an open-ended $87 billion without the questions answered that I proposed earlier and without an adequate effort with respect to the international community." John Kerry, September 9, 2003
So, now he can't fund our troops because of tax cuts, even though he says no one would deny them support? Funny, I thought we had a straight-shooter running. Guess I was wrong, hmm? And can you believe he actually said this?
"I actually did vote for the $87 billion, before I voted against it." John Kerry, March 16, 2004
That's plenty on just Kerry, but I'm saying little on Democrats as a whole. What about a racist attitude? Racist? Where did that come from? From the mouths of the democrats, of course. Don't bother argueing, either, you put these very people into office!
"Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds." -- Former Klansman and current US Senator Robert Byrd, a man who is referred to by many Democrats as the "conscience of the Senate", in a letter written in 1944
Hypocrite all over again. :)
"I am a former kleagle of the Ku Klux Klan in Raleigh County and the adjoining counties of the state .... The Klan is needed today as never before and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia .... It is necessary that the order be promoted immediately and in every state of the Union. Will you please inform me as to the possibilities of rebuilding the Klan in the Realm of W. Va .... I hope that you will find it convenient to answer my letter in regards to future possibilities." -- Former Klansman and current US Senator Robert Byrd, a man who is referred to by many Democrats as the "conscience of the Senate", in a letter written in 1946
Not just Kerry, it seems hypocrisy runs in democratic politics. I mean, who the hell puts in a KKK member, or ex- thereof, and calls him the conscience of the senate? His past is not behind him. Read this from just three years ago!
"There are white niggers. I've seen a lot of white niggers in my time." -- Former Klansman and Current US Senator Robert Byrd, March of 2001.
Ah, niggers...yes...real nice words for a conscience to use so freely...
"I'll have those niggers voting Democratic for the next 200 years." -- Lyndon B. Johnson
Just try and find this much factual racism from the Republican party...
"You fucking Jew bastard." -- Hillary Clinton to political operative Paul Fray. This was revealed in "State of a Union: Inside the Complex Marriage of Bill and Hillary Clinton" and has been verified by Paul Fray and three witnesses.
Clearly, blacks aren't the only ones victemized by liberal racism. Again, try and find such accounts on the conservative side.
"The Jews don't like Farrakhan, so they call me Hitler. Well, that's a good name. Hitler was a very great man. He rose Germany up from the ashes." -- Louis Farrakhan
Come on, do you really want to support a side that's run by hypocrites, racists, and someone who thinks what Hitler did was a great thing? He murdered countless people; men, women, and children alike, and he's saying Hitler was a very great man? If Democrats want to change this nation for the better, supporting people like Kerry and Farrakhan is not the way to do it.
"Jews — that's J-E-W-S." -- Democratic state representative Bill McKinney on why his daughter Cynthia lost in 2002
I shouldn't even have to comment...
"I want to go up to the closest white person and say: 'You can't understand this, it's a black thing' and then slap him, just for my mental health." -- Charles Barron, a New York city councilman at a reparations rally, 2002
Apparently racism works both ways. It's not just whites on blacks or whites on anyone else. Blacks on whites is just as much racism as anything else. Seriously, who wants to support racism? It'll only divide and destroy our country, and DEMOCRATS ARE AT THE TOP OF THE SUPPORTING LIST!
"Civil rights laws were not passed to protect the rights of white men and do not apply to them." -- Mary Frances Berry, Chairwoman, US Commission on Civil Rights
Apparently someone thinks it's wrong to be racist against blacks and hispanics and other minorites, but doesn't think it's wrong to do that against whites. In their own way, they're supporting racism with this comment.
"The white man is our mortal enemy, and we cannot accept him. I will fight to see that vicious beast go down into the lake of fire prepared for him from the beginning, that he never rise again to give any innocent black man, woman or child the hell that he has delighted in pouring on us for 400 years." -- Louis Farrakhan, 2002
Wow, for someone supposedly against racism, Farrakhan sure is laying it on thick, don't you think?
"Yes, (Bush is a) racist. We all knew that but the world is only finding it out now. As Texas's governor, Bush led a penitentiary system that executed more people than all the other U.S. states together. And most of the people who died from (the) death penalty were Afro-Americans or Hispanics. (Bush) promoted a Conservative program, designed to eliminate everything Americans had accomplished so far in matters of race and equality." -- Danny Glover
First off, I can't find anything to support that Bush tried to destroy anything in equality among whites, blacks, and hispanics, let alone any other race. Second of all, the only people who were put to death were people who had earned the punishment through the immensity of their crimes. Neither whites, blacks, nor hispanics were exempt from these. To have let some blacks and hispanics go just to even out the racial odds would only be racist, and a crime to humanity. That isn't racism that happened, it was fair justice to killers and rapists.
"Of course, Mr. Hannity was outraged that any American would not cross her hand over her heart and repeat the hypocritical words, one nation. Whenever we come up on the Fourth of You Lie, I think of Frederick Douglas and his masterful oration, The meaning of the Fourth of July to the Negro. Pledge the flag? I think not!" -- Julianne Malveaux
Heh, finally a democrat speaking her true colors outright. You heard the woman, liberals, shun the flag! ignore the day of our independance!
"While the rest of the country waves the flag of Americana, we understand we are not part of that. We don't owe America anything - America owes us." -- Al Sharpton at the "State of the Black World Conference" in Atlanta
What bullshit...America owes nothing to no one. We had a rough history with slavery, yes, but that's behind us. Or atleast it should be. With people like Byrd, Farrakhan, and Sharpton here, it sure isn't going anywhere. So follow the democrats and promote racial hatred and segregation!
"Now [African Americans] are supposed to fight and die for a racist corrupt government in yet another imperialist war, when it is the U.S. which has clearly brought on this attack. We are supposed to fight for a country where we still have limited social, economic and political rights, and where we are still subject to death by any racist cop or citizen, where there is widespread poverty, mass imprisonment of the youth, and massive unemployment concentrated in the Black community. The obvious question is what the hell are we fighting for? To avenge America? To mourn America? Why, we don't owe this country anything." -- Lorenzo Komboa Ervin, CounterPunch
My only comment is...if you live here, then shut the hell up. If you didn't live here I could understand you not wanting to fight for the country, but you do live here! If you truly hate this country so much, people, then move elsewhere. It's as simple as that. But if you choose to remain, you'll choose to put up with whatever comes our way. You can't back out because you're black, or white, or any other color of skin. It is just that simple. What do people hope to accomplish in holding up such racial grudges? I dunno...maybe someday the dems will answer.
"You see everybody always talk about Hitler exterminating six million Jews. That's right. But don't nobody ever ask what did they do to Hitler...They went in there, in Germany, the way they do everywhere they go, and they supplanted, they usurped...they had undermined the very fabric of the society." -- Khalid Abdul Muhammad, Nation Of Islam & New Black Panther Party, Chicago Sun-Times, Appearance at Chicago State University, March 24, 1996
Wow, where is he getting his information? Hitler commited mass genocide to the Jewish people! It's as simple as that! He was a mass-murdering self-rightous bastard! Basically he's saying it's alright to do that to the Jews because they did the same thing the illegal immigrants of other countries are doing to us.
On Black Conservatives) "A new breed of Uncle Tom [and] some of the biggest liars the world ever saw - Former NAACP executive director Benjamin Hooks
When white folks can’t defeat you, they’ll always find some Negro, some boot-licking, butt-licking, bamboozled, half-baked, half-fried, sissified, punkified, pasteurized, homogenized N*gger that they can trot out in front of you" -- Khalid Abdul Muhammad of the Nation Of Islam
Basically, what dear Hooks and Muhammad here are saying is that Blacks cannot be conservative without being liars. Hypocrites these days never fail to ammuse me. I suppose that it follows, by their racist attitudes, that whites should not be liberal? For all you people with open minds, keep in mind that if you vote democratic during the election, that you are voting WITH all these racists and extremists.
Of course, where would we be in this sort of message without bringing up the war with Iraq in better clarity? Democratic politicians, as a whole, have constantly flip-flopped on this issue.
To quote: "Men often oppose a thing merely because they have no agency in planning it, or because it may have been planned by those whom they dislike."-Alexander Hamilton
These words by one of America's most respected Founding Father's hold as true today as they ever did. For example: Tom Daschel, when Clinton was talking about a possible attack on Iraq.
"Look, we have exhausted virtually all our diplomatic effort to get the Iraqis to comply with their own agreements and with international law. Given that, what other option is there but to force them to do so? That's what they're saying. This is the key question. And the answer is we don't have another option. We have got to force them to comply militarily."
Sounds like what we've went through this last year doesn't it? But look at what this same man has to say about the same situation under a different President!
"I'm going to the White House this afternoon and I have a pretty good understanding, a pretty good idea what I'm going to hear. And I'm saddened, saddened that this President failed so miserably at diplomacy that we're now forced to war, saddened that we have to give up one life because this President couldn't create the kind of diplomatic effort that was so critical for our country. But we will work, and we will do all that we can to get through this crisis like we've gotten through so many."
How hypocritical...back in '98 when it was a democratic President he said "What choice do we have but to force them to comply?" But as soon as it's a republican President after the same goal he changes his tune. As do many, as you will see. As always so far, I will let them argue. If you wish to raise an arguement, do not worry about sounding outraged to me, these are the people democrats voted in and still support! These are the people's own words, and I'm merely trying to open eyes to their hypocrisy!
"We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country." Al Gore, September 23, 2002
Gee, Al, you don't say!
"One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line." President Clinton, February 4, 1998.
The bottom line?
"He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983." Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, February 18, 1998.
Firstly, this guy snuck out records, probably of Clinton's defensive failings, in his BOXERS, and destroyed them. Secondly, who the hell names their son Sandy? This guy obviously can't be trusted, and the democrats who supported, and still support, him should not be kept in a place to have any sway over the state of our country.
"Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power." Al Gore, September 23, 2002.
And here I thought he was against Bush...
"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction." Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), September 27, 2002
We have known for many years that Ted Kennedy is full of...
"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real ..." Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003
Mighty different message from what he says anymore, isn't it?
"The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retained some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capability. Intelligence reports also indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons, but has not yet achieved nuclear capability." -- Robert Byrd, October 2002
Of course, nowadays he says quite the opposite and accuses Bush of everything short of treason. Robert Byrd: Former member of the KKK, racist, hypocrite.
"The community of nations may see more and more of the very kind of threat Iraq poses now: a rogue state with weapons of mass destruction, ready to use them or provide them to terrorists. If we fail to respond today, Saddam and all those who would follow in his footsteps will be emboldened tomorrow." -- Bill Clinton in 1998
I'd love to smack this quote upside the head of every liberal that cries injustice over the war with Iraq. You all are as guilty for any crimes as Bush is, so deal with it and stop running and hiding behind flip-flopped messages!
"Iraq is not the only nation in the world to possess weapons of mass destruction, but it is the only nation with a leader who has used them against his own people." -- Tom Daschle in 1998
Heheheh, funny guy this Daschle. He seemed smart when Clinton was in office, but as soon as Bush takes the seat he turns right around! South Dakota needs to vote him out of office. Hypocrites shouldn't have any power.
"Saddam Hussein's regime represents a grave threat to America and our allies, including our vital ally, Israel. For more than two decades, Saddam Hussein has sought weapons of mass destruction through every available means. We know that he has chemical and biological weapons. He has already used them against his neighbors and his own people, and is trying to build more. We know that he is doing everything he can to build nuclear weapons, and we know that each day he gets closer to achieving that goal." -- John Edwards, October 10, 2002
Ah, Kerry's choice for Running Mate. Look at what he said then, compared to what he says now. Kerry picked a fine choice in choosing someone as stiff as his own hair to run with him.
"I will be voting to give the president of the United States the authority to use force - if necessary - to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security." -- John F. Kerry, October 2002
Of course, now he says he only authorized the 'threat' of force. Seriously, people, do you want to authorize him to be President? He wants to raise minimum wage! Good idea, in theory, but in reality it would force many smaller businesses to crumble under, and the larger ones would have to not only let a large portion of their employees go, they would also have to make their products much more expensive in order to cover costs fully! What then? "Oh, I didn't authorize a raise in minimum wage. I only authorized the idea of a raise in minimum wage!" Wow...how the hell did this guy get anywhere in life?
Let's face it...every one of the democrats, from Clinton, to Gore, to Kerry, to Edwards...they've all wanted this war as badly as they say Bush did and does. They wanted it, they saw the threat. Now that Bush has had the guts to do it they're crying injustice, saying Bush lied and mislead. But Bush has been honest about going to war. The liars are the ones saying they were against it even though there are documented quotes on them supporting it even during Bush's term! Do you want to vote for hypocrites and liars like this?
This election day will clinche it. It will decide whether we are led by an honest-to-goodness leader, or a flip-flopping acrobat who has no other goals but to run us into the ground and drive up costs and lower employement. Kerry is the enemy, and if you can't see that after seeing his self-contradicting words and views, let alone those of his fellow democrats, then I feel sorry for you. Bush has his faults, but he's not a liar or a backstabber. He's stood his ground in the face of oppression and struck back against those who attacked our nation. I want someone like that in office at all times, someone who isn't afraid. Not a hypocrite who hides behind whatever excuse he can find. Thank you for reading, and may you make the right choice this election day.

Just wait a bit, I got one on Miss Heinz around here somewhere too.

Fantastic. Great research and analysis. This is the blogosphere post of the month for sure.
WOW... This is right on the mark. Awesome research.
What the liberals are good at is to review their agenda in their speeches but turning it around to attack the Right. All they care is that they control the masses (as all Communists do) by creating confusion and "reasonable doubt" in everyone. It's a tactic that all lawyers (Kerry, Edwards) are well versed in.
I'm going to post this on my blog.... Thanks for your insight.
First off, I want to commend your excellent grasp of the background of this presidential debate. I applaud you for shunning the propaganda of overly-liberal political outlets and embracing the “truths” of what people SAY.
Indeed, while you have touched a myriad of excellent points and flooded the reader with a goldmine of quotes, you are NOT going to win over one liberal Black who has the slightest knowledge of his own history. Not one. Why? Because you have taken perfectly valid points made by Blacks and shunned them as irrelevant--without even making the slightest attempt to consider them in context.
For example, you quoted a Lorenzo Komboa Ervin as saying, “Now [African Americans] are supposed to fight and die for a racist, corrupt government in yet another imperialist war… for a country where we still have limited social, economic and political rights, and where we are still subject to death by any racist cop or citizen, where there is widespread poverty, mass imprisonment of the youth, and massive unemployment concentrated in the Black community. The obvious question is what the hell are we fighting for?"
To this highly relevant contention, your “only comment” was, “If you live here, then shut the hell up”.
Come on. Clearly, European—and, yes, American—imperialism has destroyed, to various extents, the culture and/or economy of the majority of non-European—and [several] European—countries on the planet. All it takes is a moderate knowledge of history to confirm that.
As a result of this fact, the average member of an American racial minority group literally has nowhere better to go. The way that Black Americans, in particular, ‘became’ American, coincidentally, makes any discernible tie to any mother nation other than the U.S. non-existent. Non-immigrant Blacks are “stuck with America” because, proportionately, their families have been “American” for more generations than Non-immigrant White families. Yet, American Blacks are continually treated as second-class citizens.
Attempts at aiding Blacks in the struggle for equality are continually shunned and misinterpreted. Blacks disproportionately make up the lower-class. They are continually underemployed by this nation’s corporations. They continually make up the majority of those accused of and tried for crimes, which studies show they commit only marginally relative to their prosecution rates. They are continually dealt harsher sentences for these crimes, doomed to devote considerable portions of their lives to this nation’s only legalized form of slavery. Their males are disenfranchised at upwards from 13% in some parts of the nation. From higher interest rates for loans to a higher probability of being gunned down by an officer while unarmed, Blacks are given the raw end of the deal here in America, and, yet, your response is literally to “shut the hell up”.
The response of White Conservative America to these injustices too often echoes your own: “Yes, Black America, you have been here for decades upon decades, but Jesus, we are tired of your bitching. We are heartily sorry for the sins of our ancestors, but let our descendents be sorry for our own. Please just shut the hell up.”
Can you honestly say that Blacks are not put at a disadvantage in today’s society? You certainly cannot. Can you, knowing what [I assume] you know of the history of Blacks in America, say that Blacks don’t have a right to an equal quality of life in America? Again, you cannot. Don’t Blacks, at least, have a right to voice their complaints? They do. And, your take-it-or-LEAVE attitude in regard to Blacks is, therefore, disgusting and distasteful.
You seem to live in a vacuum, wherein race has no consequence in modern society. You say, “The only people who were put to death were people who had earned the punishment through the immensity of their crimes. Neither whites, blacks, nor Hispanics were exempt from these.” Yet, this is a lie.
White collar individuals suspected of murder exist beyond O.J. Simpson. Yet, most of these individuals never even see trial. And, yes, these individuals, who buy their one way ticket beyond the arm of the law, are primarily white. Even those closer to working-class America have found Blacks a convenient cop-out. White woman itching to murder your children? The perfect solution in modern America is to blame a non-existent Black guy. (Real life is stranger than fiction).
You assert that ‘to have let some blacks and Hispanics go just to even out the racial odds would only be racist, and a crime to humanity,’ but you seem to ignore the reality of the White rapists and murders who ‘get off’ every year for no other reason than ‘privilege’. Even our First Lady killed one of her best friends in a, likely, drunken Senior-year car accident. She did so without so much as a manslaughter charge against her. To loosely compare that to the issue at hand, when nefarious justice-evading schemes far worse than these are revealed—schemes that are generally spearheaded by white men—it’s no wonder that ONLY White America seems shocked. That’s far from fair.
Your perception of slavery and its contemporary relevance fares no better than your perception of minority justice. The heart disease that is slowing killing thousands upon thousands of Blacks every year is rooted in the diet slavery forced upon Black America. The balm (Affirmative Action) for 400 years of slavery and oppression is being dismissed by Americans in droves after less than four decades. The fortunes of this nation’s oldest and most prestigious families were built by slaves, while the descendents of said slaves have inherited nothing but distrust, miseducation, bitterness and poverty. But, when Blacks say that they are owed something from this country—a something that many reparations activists identify as nothing more than equal education—your immediate response is that this debt is “bullshit”. You don’t even consider the possibility that this clearly wronged group is owed anything. …Because slavery, a historical reality with repercussions America seems all-but-in-denial-of is “behind us…or at least it should be”.
It is difficult to discuss Blacks in America without sounding angry—whether or not one is Black, himself. It is within this context that you must consider the quotes by so many of the Americans whose defense of and commentary on Black behavior and grievances you have so readily rejected. In grouping these individuals with, say, Louis Farrakhan, you have too hastily categorized them as fanatic. For instance, Julianne Malveaux’s commentary upon the Fourth of July references the significance of the date of this nation’s independence to a slave. July 4, 1776 ought not necessarily signify anything resembling freedom to someone whose ancestors were not even legally considered a human being in this country until a summer almost one hundred years later, in 1865! Even today, the Bell Curves of this nation’s highest institutions of learning call into question the fundamental merit of the claims to genuine [read: equal] humanity by those Blacks only a few generations descended from these emancipated slaves.
My only criticism to your stance against liberals is the naivety with which race relations in America is approached. It is a harsh one because America is not united. There is an ugly history beneath the façade of unity which is, in the context of this election, increasingly laughable. It’s high time my fellow conservatives recognized this past and its role in the present. This resistance may well be the difference between scarcely maintaining political power, forfeiting it outright, and earning it in abundance.
